Signature gathering is off to a blazing start

More than 20,000 Alaskans have already signed the recall petition in the second phase of Alaska’s historic recall movement. Recall Dunleavy is required to collect signatures from 71,252 qualified registered voters to move forward into a final election phase.

“It’s no surprise that we’ve already secured about 30% of the required signatures in under two weeks,” said Meda DeWitt, Chair of Recall Dunleavy. “We have over 440 trained signature gatherers in communities across our great state working hard to collect petition signatures everywhere; from living rooms in small communities to the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. Alaskans who love Alaska are taking a stand.”

More than 90 kickoff events and locations have already occurred across Alaska to help gather signatures and raise awareness; if Alaskans signed in the summer, they must sign again in the winter to be counted in the petition phase.

“So far our momentum is undeniable,” said Vicki Otte, a community lead with the effort based in the Mat-Su. “Alaskans will make history again during the second phase of this recall. No one has ever made it this far in the process, and we urge everyone who plans to sign to grab two friends, and get it done as soon as possible! We are grateful for the sincere dedication and commitment of our volunteers to protecting our state from further harm.”

To make a plan to sign the recall petition, locations and signature events are now live at Recall Dunleavy’s site, and will be updated on an ongoing basis: https://recalldunleavy.org/sign/.
