Recall Dunleavy
Recall Dunleavy
All it takes it one reason, we have seven:

(1) Violating the Alaska constitution
Governor Dunleavy violated the Alaska Constitution and broke state law on multiple occasions. It's up to Alaskans to demand accountability and prevent further erosion of our laws and guiding principles.

(2) Defunding our universities
The governor's massive cuts to the University of Alaska system have shuttered dozens of key programs in both main campuses and satellite hubs across the state.

(3) Scandals
Governor Dunleavy's first two choices for Attorney General (Kevin Clarkson and Ed Sniffen)—the highest law officers in the state—resigned over sex scandals. Rather than working in the best interests of Alaska, high-ranking officials in the Dunleavy Administration have done harm and been an embarrassment to our state.

(4) Hurting Alaska's elders
Governor Dunleavy's first budget called for elimination of many senior benefits and as much as a 100% rise in Pioneer Home rates. Only lawsuits and the recall stand between the governor and our elders.

(5) Threatening our children's future
Governor Dunleavy's first budget called for a 25% cut to K-12 education, huge cuts to pre-K funding, and the complete elimination of Head Start. How is this possible from a former teacher and administrator? We don't have an answer.

(6) Dismantling coastal transportation
Governor Dunleavy's leadership has been the death knell for the Alaska Marine Highway System. Only a handful of ferries still operate, leaving coastal communities without a primary means of transporting residents, tourists, and goods needed to support local economies.

(7) Undermining the Alaskan economy
Governor Dunleavy has consistently favored outside companies at the expense of Alaskan jobs. Privatizing DMVs, using state resources to further foreign mining interests, no-bid contracts, and budget cuts that are hostile to Alaskan businesses have all hurt our economy.

AFTER SIX MONTHS OF WRONGFUL DELAY, THE RECALL WON IN ALASKA SUPREME COURT!

On May 8, 2020, Recall Dunleavy’s grounds were ruled legal by the Alaska Supreme Court. Thousands of Alaskans can now celebrate this long-awaited confirmation across the state and advance the biggest signature collection campaign in the state’s history.

“Together, Alaskans have prevailed in court and won after months of wrongful delays,” said Meda DeWitt, Recall Dunleavy Chair. “We’ve known since day one that we have the constitutional right to express our collective will and vote. The Alaska Supreme Court validated our grounds detailing the governor’s clear violation of the separation of powers, illegal and partisan misuse of state funds, and disturbing errors in executing his constitutionally mandated duties.”

The Committee will now collect over 40,000 more signatures to gather a total of over 71,252 required during the petition phase, or phase two, of the recall.
